Our Story
About 15 years ago, I began working with middle school autistic individuals, and it was here that I first witnessed their incredible capabilities. I was inspired by the support they received during their school years, but a question lingered in my mind: what happens once they finish school? This sparked a desire to create opportunities that would allow these individuals to continue developing their skills, particularly in finding jobs that align with their interests.
During this time, I became passionate about incorporating assistive technology to enhance their engagement in the classroom. Back then, assistive technology was primarily word processing devices, with early versions of voice typing just emerging through platforms like Google. I found immense joy in empowering my clients and helping them realize their full potential.
Over the years, I worked with various schools in both New York and North Carolina, continuing my work with individuals in sensory gyms and in their homes. After moving to North Carolina, I noticed a gap in our community. Conversations with families and my own experiences revealed a lack of group activities for the neurodiverse population. Additionally, I saw that assistive technology wasn’t being fully utilized to support individuals in engaging with daily tasks. In a world where technology plays such an important role for everyone, why should it be any different for them?
This realization fueled my drive to establish something new—a place where neurodiverse individuals could continue to grow, connect, and use the tools available to them to thrive in everyday life. That vision became Porpoiseful Abilities.

My journey in occupational therapy began at Queens College, where I earned my BA in Psychology with a minor in peer counseling. I then pursued my Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Columbia University. One of the highlights of my educational journey was my internship at a dolphin-assisted therapy center, where I combined my love for marine life with my developing OT skills.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working in diverse settings, including inpatient rehabilitation, pediatrics in schools, and community and home care for clients of all ages and abilities. Originally from Queens, NY, I’ve been practicing in North Carolina for the past six years, bringing a unique blend of urban and rural experiences to my work.
My approach to occupational therapy is neurodivergent-affirming, and I’m committed to continuous learning. I’ve pursued extensive continuing education in sensory processing, executive functioning, and assistive technology to ensure I’m always at the forefront of our field.
When I’m not helping clients achieve their goals, I prioritize work-life balance by spending quality time with my husband, two daughters, and our dog. We love hiking, playing games, reading, cooking, and traveling together.
